This was an
excellent night out of indoor
Gokarting for the DAC members
who attended. It was held at
Grand Prix Kartways,
75 Carl Hall
Road, Bay 3 Unit #9, Downsview
Park. Those in attendance were the
Birals, Robert Falke, Steffan
Haas, Lisa Shaw, Scott Miller,
Mike Evans, Rick Creuzburg,
Martin Hoeschele and Andy Boosey.
It's an indoor venue with
electric powered karts that I
must say provide for tons of
immediate torque and none of the
choking carbon monoxide fumes
that you have with the gas
powered versions. Each kart's
speed can be remotely controlled
by the marshalls so that in the
event of an accident the karts
can be slowed even stopped. After
each session you receive a
detailed printout of your
performance and the statistics
for the group. The facility is
housed in an old hanger on the Downsview airbase and is very
well put together. There is a
snack bar and an enclosed
restaurant complete with bar, a
games room and several VIP
lounges that can be rented for
group functions. For $52 we got
a 15 lap qualifier and an 18 lap
race. The track is 1150 ft. long
with the fastest lap time set by
Steffan Haas at 22.529 seconds,
top speeds close to 35 mph.

The race was won by Mike Evans
with lapping consistency
worthy of his namesake.
Finishing second
was Robert Falke, followed by,
Steffan Haas, Gianni Biral, Rick
Creuzburg, Andy Boosey, Scott
Miller and Martin Hoeschele.
The event was very well run and
thanks go to Rick Creuzburg for
organizing it. It looks like
this venue would be a good
place to hold more
get-togethers, possibly run a
season over the winter months
next year.
