Mindenhammer looked beautiful this weekend after 8 inches of snow fell Friday Nite.

One heck of a time unlocking the trailer and cleaning up the Ovlov after all the ice that accumulated (about 1/2 inch) earlier in the week.

Racing for me this weekend was good on Saturday especially during practice but bad on Sunday. Mike and I stayed at the cottage with Gianni Biral and the boys to watch the Daytona live via digital dish. Could have used more sleep. The car has some kind of leak at the exhaust manifold (its hard to see) and that has been contributing to a loss of power. Sunday the car seemed to lose even more power so we used lower octane fuel (we had noticed the plugs carboning up) and allowed cooler flow of air to the carbs. The result was a marked improvement in ponies. No weight in the car at all this weekend except when my friends Steve Hanson and Ben Pankhurst showed up Saturday afternoon and went out with me in the car in both races. Had a lot of fun and they both really enjoyed being in car during a race. I did however spin with Steve in the car and wound up down 3 laps before i could get the Ovlov out of the bank. We were doing really well up until lap 8 when i thought I saw an opportunity to take both Terry Dalton and a rookie on the inside of the last turn but the rookie closed the door on my snout and spun me. I hit the gas to spin car right around but launched the ass end in the bank. If I had waited to let the tires cool and the ice to freeze to the rubber it would have walked right out within 30 seconds. But I had forgotten this little trick and did not think of it for three laps.

Sunday I was very tired and only managed two fifths but was very good racing in the first. However the second race saw me launch an official "inquiry" into Tom Smith's driving habits in his Class 4 (All Wheel Drive) Honda station wagon. I was headed down the straight well into the race when I got slam bammed from behind by whom I could not see as I had my hands full for a whil;e trying to retain some semblance of car control! He continued to be all over me pounding and slamming all through the turn almost turning me around with a hit to the rear corner and side of the Ovlov. Now I was getting really pissed !!! This guy wouldn't stop into the kink he's still hitting me then passes on the outside by grinding up the side of the car flipping the mirror in the process and tearing off the small convex mirror!!!! When I went through the second last turn just before the straight I saw him having trouble controlling his car and getting mixed up with somemore traffic and basically I thought not displaying very good car control. This allowed me to close in on him. I was so steamed all I saw was red and literally pile drove this prick at full acceleration. Then once he was loose I hit his rear corner again just to let him know what it feels like to be knocked silly by another car!!! Anyhow after the race we were both pulled over by the clerk of the course whereupon I spewed a few choice words at Mr. Smith (driver #34). This has been our third simila coming together this season and I have done nothing prior to this in the way of retaliation but enough is enough. I basically told Mr. Smith not to do that again. the ensuing inquiry resulted in both of us being penalized a finish position him obviously, me for retaliating. I am not the only one that has had problems with Tom Smith as I found out afterwards in telling my story. Somebody had to set him straight!
