8 AM Sat. and the bad news is spreading.

Iceracers hauled up their cars and their expectations for this weekend and then hauled both back home again. We were informed shortly after 8 AM Saturday that the weekend was cancelled. They sent out a few rubber to ice cars to test the track before 8 AM and they went right  through the shell ice that had formed overnite after the warm temps on Friday. They also went right down to the dirt under the ice in one of the corners and you just can't chew up and throw the dirt onto the ice because as soon as the  sun comes out it causes a complete meltdown and there would be no more track. So the choice was, race this weekend and that would end it for the season or, postpone to next weekend and hope to get more than one more weekend of racing. Very tough call with all racers standing right there ready to go, some having just driven up to Minden, others having already stayed and paid for Friday night accomodations and others having towed up racers Saturday morning as well.

8 AM Sat. Deep Ruts and lots of water

The paddock was already a mess as the slush was up to 6" in places and getting very deeply rutted and potholed what with the entire race population driving back and forth through it.

This was also the annual "girls go iceracing" weekend and both my wife Judy and Terry's wife Paula came up Friday with us. Anyhow there was lots of other sob stories and plenty of dissappointment to go around.

So Terry and I did what any self-respecting SAC member would do ... we BBQ'd some SACages back at the Minden House!
