Ice Race Report #3

By SAC#1, Scott Miller

(4th weekend of racing Feb 12th/ 13th hosted by PMSC) ...
(Click any pic for a larger version)

I waited and waited and waited until at 3 pm on Friday the weather forcast looked like the temps might stay below zero in Mindenhammer so I loaded up and headed up.

Click For Large Roberto Manicino SAC#149 arrived with his Dad and this beautifully prepared car that used to belong to Jeff Wenzel SAC#9 maybe even built originally by Raul SAC#7?
Click For Large Roberto put on quite a show but had to return home and did not race Sunday in order to prepare for exams.

Click For LargeMy racing went really well all day Saturday (got a SACond place!)_ until the last class 1 race Sat. when chasing down 1st the car died like the key was turned off. I smelled hot electrics , touched the fuel pump relay and it was extremely hot and noticed the #1 (main fuel pump) fuse blown, swapped out relay and fuse with good ones, turned car over and fuse blew immediately. That was the end of racing for me this weekend. Towed home car Sat. nite in hopes of repair but no go as of today (Monday) suspect Hall sender or ignition switch failure.

Click For LargeGot some good pics though as I stood on the bank but poor light as it was around 3:30pm and heavy snowfall , overcast conditions. Terry was just too fast for my shutter! Note the sponsor, great place to stay, close to the track, delectible breakfasts for those of discerning tastes - The Minden House B&B!

That's it, have to finish diagnosing problem in Ovlov.
